Paris Noir: Where nothing is as it appears, and the lines of obsession blur past the point of delusion.
Paris Noir: Deadly Obsession follows Hannah Walker as she stands just days away from marrying the love of her life, Jonathan when tragedy suddenly strikes: her beloved godfather, Rafael, is brutally run down in what appears to be a deliberate attack. Determined to uncover who was behind the wheel, Hannah digs into Rafael’s past and discovers that a dangerous man from his past has returned — consumed by a dark obsession and intent on destroying him. While Hannah is consumed with worry for Rafael’s safety, she fails to see that the threat may be far closer than she imagines; someone within her circle could be pulling the strings behind the murders.
As wedding preparations continue, Hannah begins experiencing recurring premonitory dreams in which she never gets to say “I do,” visions that haunt her waking hours and push her to act. Driven to stop the new string of killings before more lives are lost, she pursues leads and confronts secrets, all the while blind to the possibility that the person she trusts most might be the very one working against her. From making sure Rafael stays safe, to meeting a stunning illusionist on a plane, Hannah will do whatever it takes to say “I do.”
This story was inspired by a visit to the City of Light, Paris — a backdrop that provided the mood and momentum I wanted for my third novel. After finishing Deadly College Murders, written during my own college years, and Deadly Vows: Echoes of College Crimes, which expanded the focus to include Rafael’s close bond with Hannah, I knew this third installment had to center on Rafael’s fierce protectiveness and the lengths he would go to keep his goddaughter safe. Paris Noir: Deadly Obsession reveals how deeply Rafael loves Hannah and how he’s willing to risk everything — even his life — to ensure she remains unharmed.
The story also explores the themes of obsession and revenge, revealing how Sin City and the city of love is far more dangerous and unpredictable than one might initially believe.
