Hannah meets Jonathan in Deadly Vows: Echoes of College Crimes. Jonathan is a private investigator, and from the very moment they meet, Hannah feels an unexpected spark between them. Still, Hannah—true to herself—wants to keep her distance and avoid getting emotionally involved with him.
After she returns to the States for Connie’s wedding, Hannah encounters a handsome stranger named Jonathan. She is understandably wary, especially given everything that happened to her three years earlier. When the hooded figure coerces a victim into tampering with Hannah’s brakes, she is caught in a horrific and massive car crash. As she slowly regains consciousness, she meets this stranger again, and their initial acquaintance deepens: what begins as a tentative friendship gradually blossoms into more tender feelings. Tragically, when Hannah travels to New Orleans to investigate Sofia’s past, she once again crosses paths with the would-be killer, who brutally assaults her and leaves her in a coma. After the reveal, Hannah awakens and, blinking in confusion, asks Rafael and Jonathan who they are. Concerned that Jonathan may be under pressure or being blackmailed by someone, Rafael quietly launches his own investigation to uncover the truth.
